Whitlock, Veitch Blast Homeruns to Lead Tribe Past Southeast
Caleb Veitch was clutch at the plate with ducks on the pond on Saturday, driving in five on two hits to lead Chattooga Indians past Southeast Whitfield County 14-3 on Saturday. Veitch drove in runs on a grand slam in the third and a double in the fifth.
The Indians grabbed an early lead. Chattooga scored on an error, a single by Bayln Stephens, a stolen base by Baylor Wilson, and a groundout by Ryan Hedgecoth in the first inning.
The Indians notched six runs in the third inning. The rally was led by a home run by Veitch and a double by Hunter Ratledge.
Brennon Whitlock took the win for Chattooga. He went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out five and walking one.
Ryan Sowder was on the mound for Southeast Whitfield County. He allowed eight hits and 12 runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one. Ethan Patterson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Chattooga socked two home runs on the day. Whitlock went deep in the second inning. Veitch put one out in the third inning.
The Indians saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Veitch, Devin Wandell, Whitlock, and Stephens each collected multiple hits for the Tribe. Stephens, Whitlock, Wandell, and Veitch each managed two hits to lead the team.
